Acceptable & Non-Acceptable Materials

Accepted Materials

The following materials may be placed at the curb for residential curbside pickup on designated days. Paper products must be dry and free of food remnants, grease, or other contaminants. Recyclable bottles, jars, cans, and cartons must be empty and well rinsed with their lids or caps removed.

  • Aluminum Cans
  • Books (Note: Hardcovers Must Have Binders Removed)
  • Cardboard (Dry Only)
  • Catalogs
  • Chipboard (Must Be Dry)
  • Computer and Office Paper
  • Envelopes
  • Glass Bottles and Jars
  • Junk Mail
  • Magazines
  • Newspapers
  • Plastic Containers*
  • Polyboard and Aseptic Carton
  • Telephone Books
  • Tin Cans

*Acceptable plastic materials will have a "PET," "PETE," or "HDPE" mark, or the number 1 or 2 within an imprinted triangle on the bottom of the container.

Examples include, but are not limited to cleaning agents, cooking oil, laundry detergents, milk jugs, shampoo bottles, soft drink bottles, and water bottles. 


Materials Not Accepted for Curbside Pickup

The following is a sampling of materials that cannot be placed at the curb for residential curbside pickup:

  • Aerosol Cans
  • Batteries
  • Ceramics and Porcelain
  • Coat Hangers
  • Contaminated Containers
  • Crystal
  • Empty Prescription Bottles
  • Light Bulbs
  • Microwave Trays
  • Mirrors
  • Plastic Bags of Any Kind
  • Plastic Cups and Plates
  • Plastic Wrap
  • Plastics Marked Number 3 to Number 7
  • Polystyrene Foam of Any Kind
  • Pyrex and Corningware
  • Shredded Paper
  • Used Paper Towels and Plates
  • Window Glass
