Adult Recreation Programs
Registration for all programs takes place online, at the Recreation Department, or by mail. Dates for registration vary from program to program so be sure to check our online catalog for the most up to date offerings.
Pickleball
Beginner Level is for people who have never been on a Pickleball court and are interested in learning the rules, terminology and understand scoring of the game. You will learn to volley and serve and to keep the ball in play. You will learn where to stand on the court during the serve, receiving serve or during general play.
Advanced Level is for people who know the fundamental rules and are looking to improve their game with strategies and varying the types of hits. They will learn to mix up their shots from a lob to a dink from a power shot to a softer shot. They should be able to move into position quickly, hit overhead shots and dinks and be aware of their positioning on the court.
Pickleball is a mix of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. It's the fastest growing sport in the United States. Pickleball is played (as singles or doubles) with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes. Pickleball is fast, fun and addicting! A great cross-training sport for tennis, pickleball improves reaction time and hand-eye coordination and sharpens volleys. This sport is great for any age
Adult Tennis
Beg/Adv Beg Class: Players in this class have no or very little tennis experience. Rally may be possible but is limited due to weak technical foundations. Playing a natch is not possible at this level.
Lo Intermediate / Intermediate: Players in this class can rally and may have some match experience. Their serve may be weak but goes in often enough to play a match. At times, judgment of the ball is a challenge and court coverage is adequate.
Note: Youth ages 13 & up can take adult classes.
Zumba & More
For ages 16 and up.
Our Zumba & More classes mixes aerobics with stretching and toning. It combines a full body workout to lively music with a flair while you strengthen your core and increase your flexibility.
Yoga in the Park
Adults 18 and up.
Yoga Flow is a well-designed class that will keep you moving through sequences of traditional Sun Salutations and standing postures. Linking movement with the breath to help build strength and endurance while working on balance and flexibility. Class will end with a well- deserved Savasana.
Pilates
Adults 18 and up.
A full-body exercise that puts emphasis on alignment & breathing while developing a strong core and improving coordination/balance. When practiced with consistency, it improves flexibility, builds strength & develops control & endurance in the entire body. Whether you are a seasoned Pilates practitioner or new to the method, this class will help you gain the understanding of how to move your body from within, and most of all to have fun. Open to All Levels
Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a form of traditional Chinese mind and body exercise and meditation that uses slow sets of body movements and controlled breathing. Tai Chi is done to improve balance, flexibility, muscle strength and overall health.
CPR/AED and First Aid Training
Teens and adults ages 15 & up.
This is a Certification Class. Participants that complete all sections will receive a CPR/AED & First Aid certification card that is good for 2 years.
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
Teens and adults ages 15 & up.
This is a Certification Class. Participants that complete all sections will receive a CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification card that is good for 2 years.
