Girl Scout Troop 40769 is conducting a survey of teenagers’ spending habits and attitudes about downtown Westfield. Students between the ages of 10 and 19 are asked to fill out their confidential survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TeensDowntown

The town of Westfield, in New Jersey's Union County, blends a sophisticated downtown, lined with high-end stores and art galleries, with a small-town atmosphere, thanks to its close-knit community and historic homes.

 

Westfield's mix of cosmopolitan and bucolic draws young families from New York and Hoboken, as well as the grown children of longtime residents. Brokers say they also have seen increasing numbers of work-related relocations, as people moving to work in the New York area for a few years are attracted to Westfield's schools, central location and varied housing stock.

New Jersey Monthly published a report in this month's September 2011 issue of the Top 100 Towns to live in New Jersey. Westfield was ranked 12th best place to live, based on median home sales price, median property tax, student proficiency, crime rate and lifestyle issues.
