JOIN US...for the 2006/7 season
Join us in 2006-07 as The Westfield Symphony Orchestra continues to enhance its unique reputation for distinctive programming by exploring the exoticism of "Orientalism" in western classical music. A deceptively large body of standard classics has been brushed by the mysteries of the East, and WSO travels a musical journey to highlight these familiar masterpieces (Turandot, Scheherazade, Afternoon of a Faun and more) as well as undiscovered gems by our Composer-in-Residence, Zhou Long.
Following the spectacular debut at the Garden State Arts Center last year with over 5000 in attendance, the WSO returns to this magnificent arena with stars from the New York City Opera to present Puccini's final masterpiece Turandot, including a guest appearance of the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company showcasing a newly commissioned choreography.
Perennial masterpieces include other powerful and enthralling symphonies and choral works of the classical repertoire, our now famous New Year's Eve performance of Broadway classics - always a favorite - and a fascinating Halloween performance of Frankenstein in musical technicolor!
WSO is experiencing a renaissance, a rebirth if you like, of creative energy, community involvement and expanded regional relevance -- and we want you to be a part of this burst by subscribing today and taking our vision of the highest professional standards in orchestral music to an ever-widening audience.
There is something for everyone at the Westfield Symphony. Join us this coming year and experience a true jewel in the crown for New Jersey's cultural community.
