Working with Pedals for Progress, the Westfield Rotary Club is collecting adult or child’s bicycles in repairable condition.  A donation toward shipping costs is necessary (suggested minimum $10 per bike). All cash and material donations are fully tax deductible and a receipt will be available at the collection site.  Working portable sewing machines are also being collected. The Collection is scheduled for Saturday, October 13 from 9 AM to 12 Noon, Rain or Shine at the Board of Education Building, Walnut & Elm Street sponsored by the Westfield Rotary Club.

 

Pedals for Progress collects 5,000 to 7,000 bicycles annually and transfers this material wealth to those more needy.  To date, more than 131,000 bicycles have been shipped to developing countries in Latin America, Africa, and Eastern Europe and distributed at low cost to poor working adults.  These bikes provide them with reliable transportation for commuting to work, transporting produce to market, or accessing health care and other services.
